Project Sunshine and Our Presentation! :D

Hi everyone!

On Monday, the 24th of March, we initiated Project Sunshine. We've been planning Project Sunshine ever since our first meeting as Singa's best friends. Tammie actually dropped a hint about Project Sunshine in our third post! :)

The main idea of Project Sunshine was to give out bags of sweets and a quote on being kind to those in our school in the morning so as to give them a good start to their day. We purposely carried out Project Sunshine on the very first day of the new term to welcome our schoolmates and teachers back to school.

We also made sure that Project Sunshine was under wraps so that it would be a pleasant surprise for everyone that received the sweets. Project Sunshine was planned to be our very first project and also served as a way to introduce ourselves to the school as an addition to our presentation.

Here are some photos of Project Sunshine, courtesy of Li Ling. :)

Overall, Project Sunshine was quite a success and we managed to distribute all our sweets. We also managed to get people to be curious about Friends of Singa and The Little Things Project.

After Project Sunshine, our school principal allowed us to introduce ourselves during her First Day of the Term presentation, which we are very thankful for. For our presentation, we had a performance and a presentation.

Our performance was a song that was originally composed by Priyanka, which was titled "Their Everything", and it was amazing. All of us performed it, with Priyanka playing the guitar and Li Ling singing harmony. The song was about how a simple act of kindness could mean a lot to someone, especially if they're going through a hard time.

It was really nice when our schoolmates clapped along and they even cheered for us. :D When the audience clapped to the beat, all of us felt much less nervous than before and it was very encouraging. So if you're a TKGian reading this, thank you. ♥ Your encouragement meant a lot to us.

Okay, now on to our presentation. We introduced ourselves, the Friends of Singa project, The Little Things Project as well as the projects that we had planned. These were what we covered:

Project Sunshine

We asked the students to tweet us their reactions and feelings at #TKGSthelittlethings. (You can do it too!) Most of those who received the gifts were either confused or really glad to receive the sweets.

The Sparks Run

We explained the Sparks Run to the rest of the school once again, just in case. :)

Project Say It!

For this project, we plan to place microphones in selected areas around our school so that anyone can say something nice or encouraging to their peers or even strangers.

Project Playlist

project playlist involves each class will contribute two songs that we will collate together to be played during sports day itself
however each song dedication will cost 50 cents during sports day and
the money collected will be given to the needy people fund for our school.
I will now pass the mike to tammie

Wish Board

The Wish Board will be a chalkboard and anyone from our school can write thank-yous, quotes or words of encouragement on it. We decided to use a chalkboard as it woud be much more different and fun than using a whiteboard.

AND FINALLY...

The Secret Agent Mission

This is a new component of the Friends of Singa project. So, this is actually open to every single student in participating schools, which is great because that way, we're not the only ones making our school a better place. :)

And now, we leave you with more photos of us discussing from last Thursday (when we met up)

Overall, Monday was a success and we'd like to thank our school's Interactors and our teachers for helping us make our first project a success. We'd also like to thank our school for being supportive, especially our principal, Mrs Seah, for allowing us time to present during assembly.

Thanks for reading! ♡

A Sneak Peek!

Hey guys!

So on Friday, after school, all of us were discussing about the stuff we are going to have in store after the March Holidays.

First off, the Sparks Run. In case you didn't know, we asked a handful of students from each class to perform dares at our school's Cross Country event. These dares are going to be set by Tammie and Priyanka, so get ready for that. ;)  We had an overwhelming response and we were really surprised that so many people wanted to join. So thank you to all who are participating, aaand we also have a special surprise awaiting you on the day itself! By the way, the people from the Singapore Kindness Movement (SKM) might be joining us, and we're all very excited. :D

We also brainstormed for some other things that are going to happen very, very soon. Here are some clues!

And that's all I can give for now. I really can't wait for when we execute these plans. Term 1 might have ended, but wait until you see what we'll have for Term 2!

The Best Friends of Singa

Hello everyone!

Welcome to our little blog. :D This blog is managed by eight of Singa's best friends. We are Claire, Chloe, Katherine, Liling, Nicole, Priyanka, Xiao Xuan and Tammie. :) All of us are from the TKGS Interact Club!

What is Friends of Singa? Friends of Singa is initiated by the Singapore Kindness Movement (SKM) and has been running for 24 years! Isn't that awesome? What do we exactly do, you ask? We raise awareness of kindness and spread the love in our very own school!

Our theme for this year is "A Spark of Kindness Starts with One Thoughtful Me"! Our project is called "The Little Things" because we hope to convey our message through little acts of kindness. We sincerely wish that at the end of this project, anyone and everyone who reads this blog or is in our school will see that kindness is deep inside each and every one of us and that it comes in many forms. Hopefully, you'll also be able to witness TKGS bond to be an even more stronger, kinder and happier than it already is.

Through this blog, we want to show you what kindness truly means to us. We will blog about little incidents and small acts relating to our project and we hope that you will enjoy this journey and most importantly, learn from it. And now, here is a short introduction from each of us :)

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

Hi! Claire here :) I'm from 2E3 and a member of the Friends of Singa project! I'm part of interact club too, just like the other girls. I'M SO SO SO EXCITED for this project cause I have 7 absolutely amazing people working with me and I can't wait to spread kindness with them to everyone. :) I think happiness is really important and with all the stress we get from home, school, etc. it's really hard to be cheerful sometimes BUT we can always receive joy from just one tiny act of kindness. I hope to spread love and happiness to all TKGians with the others! I feel that as long as you are alive and well no matter whether you are young or old you can make anyone and everyone smile as long as you try. We're gonna show you how just one little act of kindness can brighten someone's day. Stay with us because we'll be posting about the process of the project and I promise this will be fun. <3

Heyy! Chloe here. ❀ I'm from 2E3'14 and I'm a member of the TKGS Interact Club! I really cannot wait to get started in this project as I believe that we can do well and make our school proud due to the seven amazing and lovely people that I'm working together with. Hopefully, we will all be able to do our part to promote kindness in our school and let this project be a success! Just remember that any act of kindness can always brighten up someone's day, even if what you are doing may be small or might not mean much to others. :) Despite our busy lives filled with schoolwork, we promise we'll try to give our 100% in all that we do for this project and hope it will be a success! I hope that by doing this it will take the stress of some of the teenagers in TKGS and also brighten up their day in school. :D Please do support us! It'll really be a lot of fun and it'd be just lovely if you could participate on this in any way possible and spark the kindness inside of us ♡

Helloo! It's Katherine here. :) Well I'm from class 2E2 and I am a member of of the TKGS Interact Club and also a teenie part of the Friends of Singa Project here! :) Well, I am working with 7 amazing people here in this team and we are trying to make people around us know that a spark of kindness start with one thoughtful me, which happens to be our team's theme! :) And we are also trying to make spreading kindness a really fun and exciting experience through all the interesting activities we are planning. :) I really think that sharing kindness is just simply making someone smile and feel loved. You will also feel really good about yourself and then spread even more kindness to others! :) So hopefully through this project, you will know what kindness is all about and get inspired to do even more kind acts on your own! :)

Hello! It's Li Ling here. (: I'm from class 2E3 and I am part of the Interact Club as well as a member of the Friends of Singa Project! I'm so excited to be working with the 7 lovely people in my team and I cannot wait to share love and happiness along with them. In our hectic lifestyles which are filled with so much work and responsibilities, we often forget the feeling of joy we can get just by doing a simple act of kindness for someone else. So from this project, I hope to brighten the days of my fellow TKGians as well as spread a little spark of kindness. ^_~ Do stay tuned for everything that ignites the fire of kindness inside of us and hopefully, it'll inspire you guys. Thanks!!!

Hi there! Nicole here. I'm from 2E3 and I'm really excited for this project.  We're going to have lots of things in store, so I'm really looking forward to it, and I hope you do too! :D I want to spread the love, joy and kindness not only to my school, but to all the readers. To me, it doesn't matter whether you're 5 or 50, male or female, short or tall, because I believe that anyone can be kind to everyone. I sincerely wish that through our documentation of this project, my friends and I can prove to you that you only need a small act of kindness to make everyone's day. All of us are really nice so do stick around with us because this is going to be a looong journey. This'll be fun, I promise.

Harlowwww! My name is Priyanka Yap and I'm also working on the Friends of Singa Project. With cases of bullying and intimidation that seem to be a part of a teen's landscape today, Friends of Singa is a way in which we can reinforce the importance of kindness. We want to spread a smile to everyone's faces, if only for a moment, and show that it is not in one grand and fancy gesture that smiles can be immediately spread, but it is the LITTLE THINGS that matter most. :)

Hello! I'm Xiao Xuan from 2E3 and I'm really excited for this project! I can't wait to get started on this project with these 7 other amazing people! I absolutely cannot wait to spread kindness in school and everywhere else. I have seen acts of kindness before, but I don't think that it's enough. We need more kindness in our world. Kindness is something that can be spread by anyone to everyone, anywhere at anytime. There is no specific place or time for kindness, or any specific type of person needed to be kind. It doesn't matter who you are, where you are. A simple act of kindness can make a lot of changes, even though it might not seem like it. And for our project, we hope that our little acts of kindness will be able to make a change in our school so I absolutely can't wait, and I hope you're excited too!

Hey there! This is Tammie! I'm from 2E1 and I'm really glad that I have Singa as my best friend. Many have said that Singaporeans are emotionless and unfeeling but I don't think that's true. :( I have encountered many kind acts everyday and I know that there are really nice people around us. We just don't know and don't show it. Just like how I feel the TK spirit around everyday! I wish to spread the love for kindness in my school and I just wanted to let you know that: NOTHING IS TOO SMALL AS LONG AS IT COMES FROM THE HEART!

So these are all of Singa's best friends in TKGS! :D What we hope to achieve at the end of this wonderful project is for our school to become an even warmer home for all of us. We hope to instill hope, joy, and love in our friends and even for those we've yet to know.  Please do stick around with us to give your support and we do hope you'll enjoy reading!

Signing off,
Singa's Best Friends
